The secret Musanze caves in Rwanda.
Musanze Caves; Better not to fear the man who’s practiced 10,000 kicks once, but fear one who’s practiced one kick 10,000 times. That man must have discovered something extremely amazing in that kick that you have not. Likewise, don’t despise a traveler who keeps returning for safaris in Rwanda. Probably he is still the only one who’s so far realized the unique sparkling beauty of this small landlocked country. The country located nearly in the heart of Africa. Despite it being pocket sized, it has an assortment of attractions that could catch your eye without seizing. Having heard of the great Virunga Mountains that proudly make Rwanda the land of a thousand hills, the various lakes like Lake Kivu, Ihema and others, the Kigali Genocide Memorial site and the breath taking streets of Kigali city.
Certainly most tourists have missed out visiting some of the hidden wonders of Rwanda. After a busy vacation of trekking the gorillas in Volcanoes national park, what better attraction is there to behold than the Musanze caves of Rwanda. Located just outside of North Musanze district, the caves are just a 90 minutes’ drive away from Rwanda’s capital Kigali. Musanze caves are a geological treat amazingly formed after centuries of volcanic activities next to Virunga volcanoes. The caves are 2 miles underneath with an expansive entrance that has huge numbers of bat residents inside. The green vegetation outside flowing over into the twilight within makes it a stunning scenery. And the ones that are not brave enough to adventure the inside, yet are photo lovers, the beauty on the top of the caves is perfect for the photo shots.
Before the place was turned into a tourist spot in 2014, it used to be a hideout. The hideout was mainly for the people of Rwanda during the war times in Rwanda’s genocide. Musanze caves have a series of stairs and trails to avoid tourist accidents while down in the caves. A guided trip in these caves takes approximately 2-3 hours.
