Japanese To Promote Uganda’s Tourism

The legislators from the Japanese parliament are to promote Uganda as a tourist destination in the east African region. This was discussed in the meeting with the minister of state for the industry and technology; that will also aim at improving the tourism sector of the country.

This was between the law makers that were accompanied by the seven man delegation; led by the Japanese ambassador to Uganda. The country has the potential in areas of agribusiness and value addiction; and the various tourist attractions that could earn the country foreign income. This will also help in developing the tourism sector which will help in increasing the safari tours to the country. There are many sites that have not been visited by tourists. This is due to the continuous reports of the LRA insurgency and the two terrorist attacks that took place in 2010.

These legislators who have been on a safari tour to Uganda discovered that; Uganda is also home to the famous mountain gorillas but that there are very few Japanese aware of this . This can be enhanced by aggressive marketing of the tourism sector in such countries. The Japanese have also promised the Ugandan tourism board to encourage the people of Japan to come for safari visits to the country.

The Japanese government also advised Uganda to collectively promote tourism as an East African community as opposed to doing it alone. This also means that the regional states can attract more investors and the tourists. The minister Mutende asked the MPs to help promote and market Uganda in the Japanese parliament and the country as a whole; now that they have experienced the peace that prevails in the pearl of Africa.
