Mt Kilimanjaro Safari Marangu Route Trekking
This Kilimanjaro safari takes you Moshi town; which is commonly known as the gateway to Mount Kilimanjaro. You will also depart to Marangu gate of Mount Kilimanjaro national park and also have a climb and continue through the forest for a short time. Spend the night at Horombo hut which lies in a valley surrounded by giant lobelia and groudsel, flora characterized of the semi alpine zone. The trek will also continue past the final watering point and also ascends into the saddle of Kilimanjaro between the peaks of Kibo and Mawenzi. Have breakfast and after depart to Marangu gate of Kilimanjaro National park. Upon your arrival, you will register with the park authorities. Your climb will commence with a four – hour walk to the Mandara encampment. You willthen pass through a thick rain forest zone; where there are high chances of rain in the afternoon. You will spend the night at Mandara Hut which is a collection of buildings.
You will continue with your scent through the forest for a short time; before reaching the heather and moorland zone at roughly 3,000m. You will also enjoy stunning views of the mountain peaks at this altitude. Then spend the night at Horombo hut which. This lies in a valley surrounded by giant lobelia and groundsel, flora; characterized of the semi alpine zone. Here bathrooms are available with running water.
Your trek continues past the final watering point, and ascends into the saddle of Kilimanjaro, between the peaks of Kibo and Mawenzi. Here the vegetation thins out as you enter the desert like alpine zone and once you cross the saddle, the kibo peak comes into view. This saddle is also an alpine desert that resembles a lunar landscape, this seven hour walk will be taken at a slow pace, and you will also spend a night at Kibo hut
Shortly after midnight, you will commence the climb to the summit of Kilimanjaro. This is because it’s easy to climb the scree slope to Gillman’s point on the crater rim when it’s frozen; and an early start for the six hour hike. This will improve the chances of reaching the summit. From this summit, it’s a downhill all the way to Horombo hut where you will spend the last night on the mountain
You will descend past the Mandara encampment to the bottom of the mountain; where each hiker will receive a well-earned certificate for having completed the hike. From here, you will be transferred to a base hotel in Moshi for dinner and an overnight.
Have breakfast and then transfer back to Arusha town
