1 Day Entebbe Tour
During this Entebbe tour, in one of Uganda safari destinations, Entebbe city you will enjoy more than you expect. Entebbe is located on the shores of Lake Victoria, 21 miles from Kampala, the capital of Uganda. The region has a total population of approximately 90,500 people.
Entebbe literary means a “seat” in the local Luganda language. It was named so because it was the place where the Baganda chief sat to adjudicate legal cases.
Most popular of Entebbe’s residents are civil servants and others making their livelihood through agriculture, fishing, producing consumer goods, or through small-scale industry. But the primary languages are English and Luganda.
Entebbe town was founded in 1893. It first became a British colonial administrative and commercial Centre when Sir Gerald Portal, a colonial Commissioner, used it as a base. Port Bell went on to become Kampala’s harbor and actually the first capital of Uganda. Although no ships land there now, there is still a jetty, which was used by Lake Victoria ferries.
From 1894 to 1962 the city was the administrative capital of the British Uganda Protectorate. In 1972, Entebbe’s Asian population was forced to leave as part of a nationwide expulsion of Asians by Gen. Idi Amin. In 1976, Entebbe’s airport was the site of a raid by Israel commandos who freed 103 Israeli hostages from a plane hijacked by Palestinian terrorists.

This tour starts at 8:00 am or any time of your preference but it ends between 6:00-8:00 pm (local time). So, when ready, you will notify our guide to drive you back to the hotel and he will keep you reminded of the time!
In the morning after your breakfast, our guide will pick you up from your hotel around Kampala and drive to Entebbe. We shall then stop at Entebbe town for some good hours; then later proceed through Botanical Gardens of Entebbe along Lake Victoria. These begonias are habitats for many primates, tropical vegetation, and hike on the white sand of Lake Victoria beach.
The prospect of neighboring fishermen casting their nets on canoes and the gorgeous scenery of the Victoria ascertains of a calm sunrise in a peaceful place blown by the cool lake breeze. In addition to a diversity of primates such as Baboons and monkeys, 20-25 bird species and butterflies. Then they serve lunch next to the beach under shade provided by the great palm vegetation. Local Uganda or intercontinental dishes are provided upon your order. They include; – grilled tilapia, Indian dishes etc., all served with a thrilling cold drink.
Following lunch break, we transfer to the Zoo (Uganda wildlife education Centre); where you shall witness most of the animal and bird species inhabitant in Uganda gazetted in a semi natural habitation. Popular species include; Crocodile, Lion, Buffalo, Antelopes, Hippos, Snakes, and very lots of bird species and numerous primates. Then taking photographs of your interest; following payment for your camera at entry and you shall hike along various paths ending at beach side restaurants for cold drinks.
We then embark on the drive to Imperial Resort Beach Entebbe, where you will find the best white sand which is bordering with a beautiful five star hotel. It’s okay to swim in Lake Victoria with the locals if interested.
